An enteric-coated peppermint oil capsule has been used successfully in treating symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

In one trial, 42 children between 8–10 years old with IBS were given enteric-coated peppermint oil or a placebo for two weeks. After two weeks, 76% of the peppermint oil group reported significant improvements compared to only 19% in the placebo group.

Suggested dosage: 1 to 2 capsules between meals three times daily.
